A charming and original exhibition developed in collaboration between the Palazzo Strozzi Foundation and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in New York, will be one of the most spectacular events in the country in 2016.
Florence became for a few months, the “ideal place” for some 100 masterpieces of European and American between the twenties and sixties of the twentieth century belonging to the couple more advanced collectors for the unrivaled glamor and artistic intuition that were Peggy and Solomon R. Guggenheim.
The large paintings, sculptures, prints and photographs of some of the most important personalities such as Pollock, Rothko, Man Ray, Fountain, Burry, Dubuffet, Calder, Lichtenstein and many others, united in a dense and constant dialogue between European and American art o attend the birth of neoavanguardia after World War II.
Just inside the Palazzo Strozzi, in the spaces dedicated to Strozzina, in February 1949, Peggy Guggenheim decided to show the collection, waiting to find a permanent home for it. Later you will find it in Venice, in the historical site of Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, which will become forever even his house.
