The Campo di Marte area, where B&B De Amicis is situated, is in Florence neighbourhood 2 and covers 24 km2.
It is a mainly residential and green area, offering a long cycle path that provides a natural connection with Florence’s historic centre, pedalling through Piazza delle Cure and Piazza della Libertà.
A short distance from Coverciano, famous for being home to Italy’s national football training ground, the Campo di Marte neighbourhood has been well-known as the heart of Florence’s sports scene for more than a century.
The first football teams played here back in the early 20th century and AC Fiorentina plays its matches here at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.
Home to top sports facilities such as the athletics ground, rugby, basketball and the Mandela Forum sports and concerts venue, leading events are regularly held here.
In the park and gardens surrounding Campo di Marte, take a dip in the vast Costoli municipal pool. Its main pool is 25x50m and boasts diving boards. It is open during the summer.
In 2010, the “Costolina” was added, a 25-metre modern, light-filled indoor pool, where you can go swimming all year round.
All this just 2–3 minutes from B&B De Amicis!
Campo di Marte is also home to music and cinema. Top concerts by leading Italian and international stars are held at the Mandela Forum, while open-air cinema is shown in the two neighbourhood summer arenas.
Campo di Marte is a vibrant area due to its range of bars, restaurants, pubs and cinemas. Two years ago, the Mario Luzi library opened, part of the Florentine city library network. Open to the public, it houses a vast collection of books over two floors covering 700m2.
Culture is also well represented by the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Florence, which is located here.
All this just 2–3 minutes from B&B De Amicis!
Fiesole is located only 2 km from Campo di Marte. The lovely, old Etruscan town is famous for its archaeological site and breath-taking views over Florence.
Coverciano and Fiesole can also be reached on foot from B&B De Amicis.
